2014.08.22Ma-Oretha in Liberia

According to Kiva.org, Ma-Oretha is 53 years old and lives in Kakata, the capital city of Margibi County, which has the highest number of rubber plantations in Liberia. She is married with four children aged between 16 and 27 years old, only one of whom lives at home and attends school. Ma-Oretha was unable to attend school. She has been involved in business for the past 6 years and presently she is selling red oil in the local market. She started this business with money given to her by her mother and learned this trade from her mother. She is requesting a loan to purchase more red oil for her business. Her future plan is to build a house.

Her loan was fully funded, and she is repaying the loan.

2014.08.22Alberto in Guatemala

According to Kiva.org, Alberto is 41 years old and lives with his family in Sololá, within the Solola department. He has six children; five sons and one daughter and raises potatoes, carrots, and onions that he sells in the town market. He farms because there is plenty of water in the place where he lives and he farms year round. He also works as a farm hand for his neighbors and they pay him every day. Alberto is asking for a loan in the amount of Q. 2,500 to buy supplies for potatoes (seeds, compost, fertilizer, and other things.). He will build the surrounding in his home so that his children can live there.

His loan was fully funded, and he will start repaying the loan soon.

2014.08.22Diego in Guatemala

According to Kiva.org, Diego is 48 years old and he is married with three children, two boys and a girl, who live in the department of Sololá. He works for daily wages in productive activities such as tending and harvesting coffee. He has been doing this type of work for two years, from which he earns his monthly income in order to provide for his family. He is seeking a loan of 6,000 Quetzals in order to purchase a plot of land. The goal is to be able to give his children a plot of land so that they will be able to build a home of their own.

His loan was fully funded, and he will start repaying it in a few months.
